Manufacturing/Processing Plants

The places we have visited:
1. Z RECYCLER
-Our family missed this field trip but I heard it was really good.  I believe the owners homeschool their own children.  They learned about recycling scrap metal, copper, and aluminum cans.  And I heard something about a big saw and big magnet.  I hope to check this out someday ourselves.

2. BOEING
-This was a great tour!  Warning: no cameras and kids under 4 feet tall and no bathrooms during the tour!  First, you watch a short video and then board a greyhound bus that takes you out to the world' largest building (by volume).  Then you walk in underground and usually take an elevator up to the observation deck to see the different types of planes being assembled.  I believe you do this 3 times. The tour is about 90 minutes.

3. USPS: EVERETT DISTRIBUTION AND PROCESSING CENTER
-Unfortunately, this center is closing very soon.  It was such an interesting field trip since all of our mail goes through this facility on the way in and out.

4. LYNDEN TRIBUNE
-This was one of our first field trips. It was very informative of how a newspaper is published, from writing stories to the actual printing! http://lyndentribune.com/

Places I hope to visit:
5. BELLINGHAM HERALD
6. FLORA
7. LYNDEN DOOR
8. GREAT WESTERN OR SELCO (Saw Mills)
9. LYNDEN SHEET METAL
10. SAMSON ROPE
